The Proper Mindset

The Proper Mindset

It is obvious that everyone wants to grow up to be successful individuals. However, although this is in everyone's goals, only a select few individuals ever become what they ever wanted to be. Sometimes we are tempted to think that they just happen to be lucky. Well, I have some news for you: life is not a lottery; it is deliberate, meaning that you are what you are because of what you chose to believe. So, if you want to change your life, you have to begin with your mind-set because it is in the mindset that people plant the seeds of success or failure. Developing the right mindset is really crucial to your success regardless of your educational background, race, and family background. So, how do you develop the right mindset?
There is English saying that says 'show me who your friends are, and I will show you who you are.' If you want to be successful you've got to surround yourself with the right people. Belief system is contagious, so are habits, and attitudes. If you hang around lazy, unmotivated people, chances are that you'll become the same as them. On the other hand, if you want to be successful, you have to think like successful men and women. For clarity, your mindset is the sum of your knowledge, which includes beliefs, and thoughts about the world. This also includes what you believe is good, possible, impossible, evil, acceptable, and so on. One writer once said that two people look through the same window; one sees the mud on the ground while another sees the sky and the stars. That is precisely what happens in everyday life. Two people seldom see the same thing because they have different mindsets.
We become what we think most of the time. Take an inventory of your thoughts and you will discover that it is true. You cannot be what you want to be without changing your mindset because what you are is what your mindset is. How can you hope to achieve anything without changing your mindset? You see that you cannot solve a problem using the same mindset that created it in the first place. Remember, a mad person is one who expects different results but keeps on doing the same things. For instance, don't expect to be wealthy if you have a poor man's mindset. You need to start focusing on abundance, happiness, greatness, and generally, positively. You are not supposed to be doing fine; you are supposed to be doing great. You are not supposed to be hanging in there, but thriving. The problem with us is that we expect a magic carpet to come and carry us to a land of honey and milk, yet we forget that magic carpet could be our mindset.
I have seen countless folks begging for favors helplessly and wishing that someone could come and bail them out of their financial mess. Most of them think that their predicaments have been caused by the government, their friends, or their God has neglected them. In short, they are too eager to blame everyone else for their problems but themselves. Anyway, I am not saying that you should blame yourself over your failures; what you need to do is to take more responsibility for your actions and accept that you have not been having the right mindset. That way, you will be in a better position to take the right action and step into the mindset of a successful person.
